The Umthombo group came into the Financial Services Association (a national association of Village Banks) in August 2001, as “E People”, to assist the institution to develop a business development culture that would engage its clients to economic development through local business growth and development and that would also impact into long term sustainability of the FSA. The relationship saw the birthing of an economic development vehicle, Sakhubukumkani, currently assisting the government (the DTI) to establish a micro Finance Apex Fund that will benefit the poor of the country.

In these challenging business times the relationship between overheads and operating performance is continuously being monitored.
